MySQL Not starting

Hi, I'm trying to get XAMPP running, but the only thing stopping me is MySQL not working. I have tried uninstall/reinstall, reconfiguring ports, resetting my system, disabling the local MySQL, checking the netstat to see if the port is free (which it is), and after all this, I haven't been able to get it running. The only noticeable change is that now there is no error message when it tries to load. All it says is this:

8:17:28 AM [mysql] Attempting to start MySQL service...

It just stays on that, and doesn't change. Before it would say about the port being in use, but I've since fixed that. I've also tried an uninstall/reinstall every time I made semi-major changes. I've got no ideas left, and could use some help.

Hi,

We need to know the contents of your mysql_error.log

The contents of the error log are empty. There's nothing at all in the file. In fact, until I tried just then, there was no file. I've tried loading it several times and still nothing.
