Transferring XAMPP to another PC

Postby rjustincole » 23. July 2014 04:53

Hi!
i have installed XAMPP win-32 1.8.3-4-VC11 in my windows 8 computer.. i wanted to transfer my XAMPP files including my test websites, mostly joomla, to another computer ( windows XP SP3 32-bit )
is there a safe way to do this without causing any problems?
i prefer a step by step procedure as i am just a beginner.. XD

Thank you for your time! :D

Hi,

XAMPP 1.8.3.X does not support Windows XP so you cannot copy your whole XAMPP installation to that computer.

Install XAMPP 1.8.2 on your Windows XP computer and google about migrating Joomla to another server, like described here:
http://docs.joomla.org/Copying_a_Joomla_website

best wishes,
