Security Console

Hello team:

I have installed xampp 1.8.3 on windows 7 ultimate. The localhost shows up in my browser,however when I try to access the security console to add password, the page doesn't populate. Also, when I click on phpMyAdmin from the xampp for windows webpage, it just hangs. If there is anymore info that you need please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help.
