browser stops downloading files

Postby spacewalker » 16. July 2014 10:04

Hello,

I have installed XAMPP 1.8.3 on Win2008R2
I use the Apache to serve some files, a user gets a downloadlink like http://myServer/file.dat and can downdload the file.

I have the problem that the users' browser stops downloading files after some time (approx. 30 min)
The files are big (500MB - 1 GB)
A user can download multiple files concurrently.

The browser (Firefox) doesn't give any errors or warnings, it simply stops downloading and the user has partially downloaded files

I wonder if this could be an Apache problem?
There is no PHP script involved in the download process so I think PHP.ini is not the problem?
But maybe there is a parameter somewhere else (httpd.conf) ?

thanks
Heinz

Maybe in a .htaccess file in the directory these files are in, add
EnableSendfile On
