I am a little lost. I have installed 1.8.2-5 on my windows 8. I was wondering if server connection collation has anything to do with why I cannot install some components from joomla on my local host. I have the data bases set to utf8 general ci.
my collation says utf8mb4_general_ci. I tried to figure out what this meant but I am lost if this makes a difference. I have checked with the requirements for joomla 3.2.4 and i meet all the requirements for php and mysql. Does anyone have any ideas.

Are your used Joomla version and the used components secrets?

no it is not a secret. Version is as stated 3.2.4 and i am trying to load component Redux classified ads version 7.3 made for joomla 3.x. I have checked with the publisher of this component and he uses the same version of xampp and has no issues. I also tried to load akeeba backup version and when I go to load it says there is an error. I will get this figured out.
