Uploading and Installing Joomla template

I have installed Joomla 2.5 on Xampp. Trying to install a Joomla Template in the backend I get the following error message: "There was an error uploading this file to the server". I can upload and install the same template on my hosted site so there is nothing wrong with the file.
Please help.

Check the system requirements of your specific Joomla Version and compare them with the versions included in your XAMPP installation.

If your Joomla don't give you more information what went wrong it is impossible for us to help you.
We cannot provide any support for third party applications like Joomla
