Every service is shown as deactivated

I am using xampp 1.8.3, the portable package, on windows 7 x32. I am able to start apache and mysql servers but when i check the status page it shows everything as deactivated:

How to activate PHP and MySQL?

I hope someone can help me. I am not very experienced in web servers and xampp.
