how to upgrade PHP 5.5.9 to 5.5.10 and have MySQL working

Hello, I have XAMPP 1.8.3-3 on Windows 7 and have been trying to update PHP 5.5.9 to 5.5.10, since there is a new build to address some security concerns. I'm using the latest zip from windows.php.net.

Updating was pretty simple, copy & replace some files pretty much. But, while PHP works fine, it won't connect to mysql. I've been through tons of posts on stackoverflow.com and various blog posts to try to solve the issue. The main fixes involved making sure httpd-xampp.conf had the correct folder for PHPINIDir, and ensuring that you have your modules set correctly in PHP.ini.

I've followed all the correct steps that I've found, but, the mysqli modules and several others are not loading at all. I have a folder for PHP 5.5.10, and one for 5.5.9. When renaming the 5.5.9 to PHP, everything works grand, just like it should. I'll then rename the 5.5.10 folder and PHP will work, but, nothing to do with mysql will, apparently.

The most useful information I could find on this issue was here: http://board.phpbuilder.com/showthread.php?10371200-RESOLVED-i-am-Fatal-error-Call-to-undefined-function-mysql_connect()-using-php5-2-mysql-4-1

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
