New to xampp / Console vs Browser problems

Postby Bman » 07. March 2014 02:45

I am new to xampp and am having a problem getting it to start in my browser (FireFox version 27). I had it up and running but then had to do an uninstall and reinstalled it. However, when I reinstalled it, I could get xampp up in my browser the first time I went there. After I closed it I have not been able to get back in.
The error message I get in the browser is that "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost." (I can't get to "localhost" either - same message).

The first time, after re-installation, it loaded in the browser, Apache, MySql etc had started. But now I can't get xampp to start in the browser. I only get the following error message in the console window.

Code: Select all
XAMPP now starts as a console application.

Instead of pressing Control-C in this console window, please use xampp_stop.exe to stop

XAMPP, because it lets XAMPP end any current transactions and cleanup gracefully.

201-03-06 20:18:11 0 [Warning] Using unique option prefix key_buffer instead of key_buffer_size is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.  Please use the full name instead.
201-03-06 20:18:11 0 [Warning] TIMESTAMP with mplicit DEFAULT value is deprecated. Please use --explicit_defaults_for_timestamp server option <see documentation for more details>.

I DO NOT want to use the console window as I am not proficient enough yet to do so. I had also installed Netbeans 7.4 but had not began to use it. I have also completely uninstalled Netbeans before re-installing xampp.

Any help from those that are "more better" than I is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
