MediaWiki running real slow

My Xampp for Windows is working fine. The problem is that MediaWiki (whatever the version, let's talk about the fresh installation of the newest one) runs real slow. A suggested solution is to install a PHP Accelerator ("enable cache"?), but I have no idea how to do this. All those suggested in MediaWiki cache help work for Linux only.
Please help.
