Getting sub directories working...

Hi, I'm not sure what's going on, installing software from within sub directories used to be easy before, just make folder within xampp/htdocs/firstsite/ and fire it up and have it working in minutes. Now apparently things have changed? How can I get sub directories working? Windows 7 and latest xampp version

localhost/firstsite/
localhost/secondsite/
localhost/thirdsite/
etc etc..

How can I fix it to automatically work for any and all sub directories and not have to specify each one separately? Thanks!

Nevermind, I got it working.. Doh, stupid me forgot there was custom htaccess file in that directory and i didn't add ".txt" to end of it.. it works now lol

well, it was working fine.. just turned off pretty urls for the software.. now getting 404 error sigh.

Edit: It was a plugin that was installed that was causing issue.. Lol.
