I have xampp installed on my Windows 7 laptop and I also have an Oracle VM VirtualBox with Windows XP installed on the same laptop.
Can I install xampp on the virtualbox XP machine while still using xampp in my Windows 7?

Sure, why not?
You can also install multiple XAMPP instances on your Windows 7 machine if you want to.
But why do you want to install multiple XAMPP versions?

I'm testing browsers and I need to run them on XP and Win7 platforms. The xampp has to be configured to support certain video formats. We found that FireFox fails when running on an XP platform, so I need to install xampp and muck with its config files to see what's going on.
can I just install xampp like I did on the Win7, but with a different IP address as the ServerName in the httpd.conf file? Is that all I have to do?
