Transfering a phpbb board from Webmatrix to XAMPP

Has anyone ever tried this?

I'm currently hosting my phpbb forum on my home computer using MS Webmatrix. I would like to get rid of Webmatrix and switch over to XAMPP. I have several immediate concerns regarding this, 1) how do I get the XAMPP mysql database set up to work with my current board without losing any data. 2) how do I keep the same web address to log in to my board. I currently subscribe to dns2go to give me a static address for my dynamic IP address from my ISP. Because I have so many users, I would like to keep the same address without having to add ports or subdirectories to it.

TIA!

Hi,

We don't actively support XAMPP as live production server.
That is not the environment XAMPP is designed for.

best wishes,
