Localhost won't load

Hi, I recently got Xampp as I need it for a computing project. I installed it all, despite a warning saying I have an antivirus software, it went okay. Then I started xampp and tried to go to local host to get to phpmyadmin, but i just got 'webpage not available'. Also when I try to stop xampp I get this message here:

Any help would be greatly appreciated
I am running the XAMPP Windows 1.8.3 build on Windows 7 64 bit.
thanks.

What you do not say is: despite a warning saying I have an antivirus software

What are you running?
Is it blocking it?

I'll try to help.

Hi,

We need the full contents of the XAMPP control panel log window.
Maybe the contents of your \xampp\apache\logs\error.log is also helpful.

best wishes,
Altrea

I have Avast free. I don't have a firewall with that so I don't believe so.

If the error.log doesn't exist it is very common that Apache couldn't have started at least once.
But without having any hints (XAMPP control panel log window!) i can't say anything about the issue.
