hello
I installed XAMPP version 1.8.2 about a week ago for practicing web development and php on my windows xp sp2 pc.
After installing XAMPP i wrote test.php file (which has just a call to phpinfo() function enclosed in php's start and end
tags) and saved it in htdocs. The Documentroot directive in httpd.conf is set to:-> "C:/xampp/htdocs".
the first time i entered http://localhost/php.test in my browser(firefox) it successfully opened the page. Then i installed
drupal 7.2 on XAMPP an it worked all right but now when i put http://localhost/php.test in my browser it gave the massage :
"Object not found!

The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster. "

Then i deleted drupal from XAMPP but still the same problem of "Object not found!...".I uninstalled and restalled xampp but again the same message appeared. Then i installed another version of xampp(1.8.1) still the same massage
then i reinstalled my windows operating system and then xampp but again the same massage appeared on my browser screen.Apache and Mysql servers are running. All other things(http://localhost/xampp/, http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ etc)are also running correctly.
The apache error.log file has the following in it every time i do "http://localhost/php.test " in the browser
" [ssl:warn] [pid 2464:tid 196] AH01909: RSA certificate configured for www.example.com:443 does NOT include an ID which matches the server name

I tried many things by reading other posts in the forum but they didn't work.
So please tell me what can i do to run my php programs in xampp.I will be very-very thankfull to you

Hi,

Double check that C:/xampp/htdocs/test.php really exists and is accessible for Apache.
Common issue: hidden known file extensions in the windows folder settings.

Best wishes,

hello Altrea
thanks for the reply.
I unchecked "hide extensions for known file types" in the "folder options".And i also checked that test.php exists in C:/xampp/htdocs/
but still doesn't work.

hello Altrea
thanks for your help
I created this test file in Notepad. Though I saved it as test.php, under file type I left as a .txt file instead of changing it to All Files type. Therefore, even though it was only showing as test.php, it was actually stored as test.php.txt, hence why I was getting the error. I was pointing at a file name that did not exist. Thanks again for the help
