I run the installation program just fine.
Open the control panel and start:
    Apache
    MySql
    Filezilla
    Mercury
    Tomcat

Everything looks green

Open my browser to http://127.0.01/xampp/ and so far so good. Click on the status link (http://127.0.01/xampp/index.php) and MySQL, PHP, CGI and SSI show as deactivaced.

I have installed this on Dell Inspiron 17r special edition running Window 7 Home Premium SP1

Any and all ideas will be greatly appreciated.

What is in the rest of the control panel log? Maybe post the whole thing.

Down at the bottom of the status screen, it says "Some changes to the configuration may sometimes cause false negatives". Have you changed any of the httpd.conf, php.ini, my.ini files? What about control panel configuration? Did you remove any databases?

Is windows firewall blocking the applications?

Tagy,

Thanks for the quick response - This is a vanilla out of the box installation on a brand new machine. Just bought it yesterday.

My old machine was Vista tho and as I had never had firewall problems on that one, it never occurred to me that I might have them now.

I'll spend the rest of the evening playing around with my firewalls and get back to you tomorrow.

Well that didn't take all that long - I turn the firewall off and started xampp. Went to the status page and still the same thing.

wondering if I have a corrupt registry - If there a list of the entry key that xampp creates?

XAMPP doesn't create/need any registry keys or PATH variables for it's base functionalities.
We still need the entire contents of your XAMPP control panel log messages.
