Hello,

I installed XAMPP Portable* on my USB drive. From phpMyAdmin I successfully construct a database, but when I start the process of installing Joomla! 3.1 (or 2.5), then the installation never leave step 1, i.e. after completed the first page with site name etc. and clicked continue, the progression bar comes up and wander forth and back, and keep doing so... for hours. Does anybody now how to solve or diagnose this problem?

This was not a problem with XAMPP, but with Joomla itself. In case it helps anyone I found the solution here (see reply by gingir):
