Error: Apache shutdown unexpectedly

Postby terryd15 » 17. September 2013 08:37

Hi, I'm new to xamp and Apache - and new to this whole area of computing! I have installed the latest xamp package but Apache shuts down immediately after starting. The error log shows the following:

[Mon Sep 16 16:16:46.851061 2013] [ssl:warn] [pid 2556:tid 256] AH01909: RSA certificate configured for www.example.com:443 does NOT include an ID which matches the server name
[Mon Sep 16 16:16:47.584103 2013] [ssl:warn] [pid 2556:tid 256] AH01909: RSA certificate configured for www.example.com:443 does NOT include an ID which matches the server name

[Mon Sep 16 16:16:47.955125 2013] [mpm_winnt:notice] [pid 2556:tid 256] AH00418: Parent: Created child process 8708
Apache server shutdown initiated...
sl:warn] [pid 8708:tid 268] AH01909: RSA certificate configured for www.example.com:443 does NOT include an ID which matches the server name

The control panel also shows that ports 80 and 443 are in use but when I look in the Netstats it shows both ports as being labelled httpd.exe.

If there is a conflict here how do I change hte configuration in Apache or should I try to reassign the ports - if so how do I do that in Win 7?

Any help would be gratefully accepted but please be gentle with this newbie and explain in terms I can understand :?

Perhaps I should have included this copy of the Control Panel with my previous post it may help in sorting the problem:

08:26:30 [Apache] Problem detected!
08:26:30 [Apache] Port 443 in use by "Unable to open process" with PID 10384!
08:26:30 [Apache] Apache WILL NOT start without the configured ports free!
08:26:30 [Apache] You need to uninstall/disable/reconfigure the blocking application
08:26:30 [Apache] or reconfigure Apache and the Control Panel to listen on a different port
08:26:30 [Apache] Attempting to start Apache app...
08:26:30 [Apache] Executing "c:\xampp\apache\bin\httpd.exe"
08:26:30 [Apache] Return code: 0
08:26:30 [mysql] Autostart aborted: MySQL is already running
08:26:30 [Apache] Status change detected: running
08:26:31 [Apache] Status change detected: stopped
08:26:31 [Apache] Error: Apache shutdown unexpectedly.
08:26:31 [Apache] This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
08:26:31 [Apache] improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.
08:26:31 [Apache] Press the Logs button to view error logs and check
08:26:31 [Apache] the Windows Event Viewer for more clues
08:26:31 [Apache] If you need more help, copy and post this
08:26:31 [Apache] entire log window on the forums

Thanks

Your first post doesn't mean anything - the second one does, though. I would run control panel with admin rights and paste entire contents of log window.
