Error: Apache shutdown unexpectedly.

I was using apache and mySQL on xampp when my friend shut down my computer suddenly.
I turned the computer back on but was unable to start apache.
I deleted the entire xampp folder via uninstallation and redownloaded xampp
I tried running apache but it still isn't working.
Can anyone help?
