PHP Doesn't work?

I don't know how i messed this up can't be any simpler.

After following all the instructions, pointed my browser at http://localhost and it said:
HTTP/1.1 200 OK Date: Wed, 16 Jun 2004 04:35:33 GMT Server: Apache/2.0.49 (Win32) mod_ssl/2.0.49 OpenSSL/0.9.7c PHP/4.3.7 mod_autoindex/color Last-Modified: Wed, 09 Jun 2004 0 <head

I tried this with both IE 6 and Firefox, same same. So i changed my document root to my usual web folder and everything works fine until i click on a PHP page. In Firefox, the browser quits working at localhost. IE displays "Page not found" for anything made of PHP. Of course this goes for documents that only say phpinfo() too, so there's no troubleshooting thataway.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
JB

OIC... the Xxamp index page is a redirect... to a PHP document... so i see the redirect headers and nothing else.

Hey i tried this on my Wife's computer too, same result. All i can think we have in common is XP SP1a. My anti-virus doesn't do anything except scan my incoming mail. I have no software firewall at all.

Xxamp PHP must work, nobody is in here complaining it doesn't work, so it must be my setup. Could someone please help me figure out where the process might be stalling so i can fix it?
