Error: MySQL shutdown unexpectedly.

Problems with the Windows version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

Error: MySQL shutdown unexpectedly.

Postby matasbar » 28. July 2013 09:41

Hello,

I was doing some WordPress stuff, everything worked fine. But the next day, the MYSQL could not be started. I am not familiar with such things, so I just reinstalled the XAMPP. I had to create a new database in order to continue working with WordPress. It worked fine until I turned off my computer... The following day MYSQL could not be started again. I hope you guys can help me out.

It's a big log, I cut some of the parts that repeated in the log, so that the message can be posted here. I hope this is an easy fix and I am very looking forward to your support.

Hello,

Does it help if you run MySQL as a Windows Service (Green check under the Service column in the XAMPP Control Panel)?

Yes, I did find a way to solve my problem.
First stop the service on the xampp control panel,
then click on the red cross on the left to install the service on your computer,
then the icon will become a green tick,
then start the service.

It should be working alright.

Excuse me for my English is not that good, and feel free to leave message if you have any question. =)

I am experiencing this same problem. MySQL was working but has since given the same error after shutting it down and restarting it today. I have tried installing it as a service (which is does) but it still won't start.

im using xampp-win32-1.8.3-beta-----

First install your MySQL as service by clicking the red X button on the left side of the MySQL

then go to C:\xampp\mysql\data\mysql
you will find some data that causes the error:(example)
" InnoDB: Error: could not open single-table tablespace file .\mysql\innodb_table_stats.ibd "

temporarily MOVE (not delete) all of them to a backup folder(could be in desktop or other place) EXCEPT for these files:
db.frm
db.MRD
db.MYI
db.opt
user.frm
user.MYD
user.MYI

after that, start your MySQL and enjoy :D
~already fixed mine

if my suggestion didn't work, just copy again the files u move ,.... :D

I also don't have red x in my xampp control panel, so i have another solution. I changed port number of mysql service in xampp and now it's running. To change port just click on Config button and choose my.ini to opet the config file in notepad. Then change port from 3306 to some other number (I've changed it to 3305 and it's working).

I had the same problem.

I started XAMPP Control Panel with 'run as administrator' and it solved the problem. The little red cross also appeared.

Good luck
