imagecreate() - unknown function

hey,

I don't know if I'm allowed to talk english here, but my german is not good enough to describe my problem, I can read german, so if you can help me, german and english are both fine.

On to my problem:

When I call to the function imagecreate() php says that function is unknown. but in the licences directory of XAMPP there is a file GD, so how do I enable this function of XAMPP?
