Hi everyone,

This is my first post so I hope the beginner's luck will help me get rid of my problem. I'm using:

"Windows 8 (Intel core i5 on HP)
XAMPP 1.8.2
Visual Studio 2008
Java SDK 7"

On XAMPP Control Panel everything runs smoothly (but the Tomcat; it started the very first time but not anymore, it just hangs) although I also had to change to port 81 for Apache to make it Start. Now the problem is when I type

in Chrome, it says:

"Oops! This link appears to be broken.
Did you mean: localhost.net"

Does it have to do with the malfunctioning Tomcat or is something else missing? Moreover:

"access.log" is empty
"php_error_log" is empty
"error.log" says (I'll just add here the last five logs):

"[Tue Jul 09 12:01:04.134048 2013] [core:notice] [pid 1572:tid 324] AH00094: Command line: 'c:\\xampp\\apache\\bin\\httpd.exe -d C:/xampp/apache'

Will be grateful for any successful tips!!

Hi again,

Well, never mind. It just needed some thinking before I came up with the idea that when you change the port then in calling the localhost, you'll have to name the port. I mean by default you should write:

http://localhost

but if you change the port to 81 for example, then you should write

http://localhost:81

That's it. Thank you Apachefriends anyways.
