localhost:8080 requires login details

Problems with the Windows version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

localhost:8080 requires login details

Hi.
The server requires a username and password to access xampp pages. Where do I find these?
Hope you can help.

Kind Regards,
J.

Hi jelectronics,

You or someone else created a XAMPP directory protection (.htaccess) to protect the sensitive XAMPP ressources. So Anybody should know the password.
If you are the administrator and don't know the password, you can delete the .htaccess file from the folder \xampp\htdocs\xampp\ to make it accessible again.

best wishes,
Altrea

Hi,
Sorry for getting back but now it shows.
HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden

Many years ago I installed XAMPP on the computer and it worked then. But somehow I uninstalled it. In 2008 I reinstalled but since haven't been able to view the phpMyAdmin MySQL. Years ago I made basic tables but now I work on a site with many tables. I would like to access phpMyAdmin to import the database.

Would it help if I uninstalled the XAMPP and added a newer version. What steps do I need to perform to get a clean uninstall. Just to say the Apache has been working great. I use it all the time for coding in PHP.

Hope you can help.
Kind Regards,
J.

Do you have cleared your browser cache?
Are you trying to access from localhost or another host?
If the HTTP Status 403 still persists, there is something more not the default configuration (missing access rules, etc).

Maybe.
