Local virtual host in a VPN

I use XAMPP in local setting up a local domain, such as myworkinprogress.local and everything works fine in my computer or any other computer I'm working on, I just add the string of my ip address on the windows host file.
Now my needs are to be able to access to my development environment from multiple location, not just computer but also iPhone and other mobile devices.
I'm on a VPN, there is any way to accomplish this?
