Dear sir/Madam,
Hope you are well today-PLEASE ASSIST ME.

I am an amateur when it comes to IT and software installation.I downloaded and installed Xampp(Version 1.8.1 .(I believe) on my laptop successful.I am running Windows. When I tried to use the Xampp control panel to actually run the software,I received error messages for all the programmes(Apache,MySQL,Tomcat etc which you can see screen shots below together with error messages. The error messages say that Apache,MySQL ,Tomcat were not found and consequently disabled their buttons(I can actually see the programmes in my download). It says on the message I should run them from my root directory.Where is that? Please excuse my ignorance and correct me by looking at the error messages below so i can properly install and run the software to create databases and tables PLEASE.Thank you very much.

Hi mumahg,

Don't install XAMPP on your Desktop. The recommend installation path is c:\xampp\

Best wishes,
Altrea

Your first Screenshot says you have installed XAMPP to C:\documents and settings\user 1\desktop\
C:\documents and settings\user 1\desktop\ is not equal C:\xampp\

Your last screenshots says you tries to start XAMPP from C:\documents and settings\user 1\My Documents\Downloads\
C:\documents and settings\user 1\My Documents\Downloads\ is not equal C:\xampp\

To say it clear: Install XAMPP to C:\xampp\, not anywhere else and the worst place to install XAMPP is anywhere inside your users folder.
