Moving Xampp installation files from local drive

Postby elijaho » 20. March 2013 12:38

Dear All,

I am completely new to xmapp and just come across with a new job I recently started.

Xampp is currently installed on the local drive of machines (C:\) in this environment

There was a recent review of security in the organisation and it has been decided that the local drive C:\ needs to be locked down preventing access to the drive.

My question is, can I move the xmapp folders to a network share and run from there instead. If yes, do I have to reinstall again to the new location or can I just simply copy and paste.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

The XAMPP components need a cpu, ram, nic, etc to be able to process requests. How can a network share provide this?

Hi Altrea,

Many thanks for your reply and time and apologies if I asked the wrong question.

Since xampp needs to be installed on a computer, can it be then installed on a server and the folders copied a to network share.

Just trying to get it from running on a local client drive

Excuse me if I am not asking right but I'm completely new to xampp and what it does.

Much appreciated

Best Wishes
