Installing XAMPP 1.8.1

Hi,

I am trying to install XAMPP (I do not have it installed yet but had to choose version when registered for this forum and the latest version I could choose was 1.8.0 so if my profile says this then that is why but is not the case.)

I read that: "PHP in this package needs the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable package"

I am quite amateurish at this and have no idea what this is or anything and was wondering how to tell if I have this.

I have Windows 7 and was hoping that it may not be relevant to this operating system but as I said I really don't know or understand.

Thank you for any help you can give me on this.

Thanks

I have already done a google search but like I said I have no idea what MC C++ 2008 is or does or why I need it and I just want to get XAMPP up and running and don't have time to learn all about it.

Any one who can help themselves would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You are wrong. This is a runtime environment needed to be able to execute the compiled libraries. It is needed on every operating system.

Simply download and install it. It has just a few Mb.
