I have downloaded Xampp onto my windows vista and now downloaded the Joomla 3.0 version. I am filling in the database configuration and I am struggling as I have got to the database name and I don't understand where I get this from? Can anybody help ?

I started using the Joomla 1.5 version at university and I was really interested in the software however it was already installed so I didnt get to see how this was done.

Your topic headline is not self speaking. What should someone expect from that headline if he searches for a solution of his issue in some already solved topics?

You need to create a new database first. This can be done in phpmyadmin.
