Hi,

I am new to xampp and downloaded version 1.8.1

I followed a tutorial on how to download and install and followed all the advice to the letter. Once installed, to visit the security section after typing localhost into my browser. I was informed to change the password there and then restart the mySQL. However, it will not allow me to stop the action and gives me the following comments in the actions feed:

23:14:07 [mysql] Attempting to stop MySQL (PID: 2724)
23:14:07 [mysql] Problem killing PID 2724
23:14:07 [mysql] Check that you have the proper privileges

Can somebody please help me and explain what that means and what I can do to correct it?

I have started it as it came after download and install. I haven't changed any administrative rights. Where would I go to see those rights?
