WebDAV only accessible from localhost

Hi,

just installed XAMPP 1.8.1 under Win 7 - 32-bit and enabled WebDAV by uncommenting the two modules and the include file.

Now I can access the default page from localhost, but if I try to access the same page from another machine on my LAN using either the server's computer name or its local IP, the connection fails with error 404.
Other data from the same machine such as web pages are served by Apache using either the machine name of local IP.

Obviously I missed something - some permission problem, but what?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. TIA
