Could not access phpMyAdmin

Yesterday Xampp was working wonderfully. Today I could not access localhost/phpmyadmin or 127.0.0.1/phpmyadmin.

I received a number of error messages.

In the browser window I was told that "Unable to connect to the database: The MySQL adapter "mysql" is not available".

The control panel told me that the Mysql database deactivated.

The control panel showed the Apache module colored in yellow with an error message that the Session Cache is not configured [hint: SSLSessionCache].

I searched the forum and googled for answers. I tried changed php.ini and several other files. I uninstalled and re-intalled xampp. But nothing allowed local host to work.

I asked myself, 'what has happened between yesterday and today?' And the answer was, a windows security update! I uninstalled windows update KB2753842 and restarted the computer and xampp works perfectly again.

I have no idea what in the update caused problems. Maybe someone else will know. But I thought I'd share my experience.
