MySql Service won't start automaticaly

Postby Draelis » 11. December 2012 11:03

Hi,

I've got an issue with the MySQL base in Xampp. I've installed it on a w2008R2, to host a little web-based maintenance ticket program (OsTicket) and it works very well.

Juste one problem ! My MySQL database won't start automaticaly when my server boot. The Service won't start, to be exact. I can launch the base in command line with a "mysql\bin\mysqld --defaults-file=mysql\bin\my.ini --standalone --console" but when he tries to boot alone, i have an error message :

"mysqld: unknown option '-d'"

I don't understand that, i've searched for this "-d" command and don't find it. When i try to start the service manually, in the SCV, windows can't launch it and show an error 1067.

i can't launch MySQL in the xampp control panel when the service was installed, but i can when he doesn't. I wonder why ? oO

Are you using the XAMPP control panel?

If so, could you post the entire log of it after starting it and trying to start MySQL?

There are no errors in that log.

Could you open your services (Start > Run > services.msc), go to the mysql service, right-click > properties > copy the entire "Path to Executable" here

# Example MySQL config file for small systems.
#
# This is for a system with little memory (<= 64M) where MySQL is only used
# from time to time and it's important that the mysqld daemon
# doesn't use much resources.
#
# You can copy this file to
# /xampp/mysql/bin/my.cnf to set global options,
# mysql-data-dir/my.cnf to set server-specific options (in this
# installation this directory is /xampp/mysql/data) or
# ~/.my.cnf to set user-specific options.
#
# In this file, you can use all long options that a program supports.
# If you want to know which options a program supports, run the program
# with the "--help" option.

# The following options will be passed to all MySQL clients
[client]
# password = your_password
port = 3306
socket = "/xampp/mysql/mysql.sock"

# Replication Master Server (default)
# binary logging is required for replication
# log-bin deactivated by default since XAMPP 1.4.11
#log-bin=mysql-bin

# required unique id between 1 and 2^32 - 1
# defaults to 1 if master-host is not set
# but will not function as a master if omitted

# Replication Slave (comment out master section to use this)
#
# To configure this host as a replication slave, you can choose between
# two methods :
#
# 1) Use the CHANGE MASTER TO command (fully described in our manual) -
# the syntax is:
#
# CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST=<host>, MASTER_PORT=<port>,
# MASTER_USER=<user>, MASTER_PASSWORD=<password> ;
#
# where you replace <host>, <user>, <password> by quoted strings and
# <port> by the master's port number (3306 by default).
#
# Example:
#
# CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST='125.564.12.1', MASTER_PORT=3306,
# MASTER_USER='joe', MASTER_PASSWORD='secret';
#
# OR
#
# 2) Set the variables below. However, in case you choose this method, then
# start replication for the first time (even unsuccessfully, for example
# if you mistyped the password in master-password and the slave fails to
# connect), the slave will create a master.info file, and any later
# change in this file to the variables' values below will be ignored and
# overridden by the content of the master.info file, unless you shutdown
# the slave server, delete master.info and restart the slaver server.
# For that reason, you may want to leave the lines below untouched
# (commented) and instead use CHANGE MASTER TO (see above)
#
# required unique id between 2 and 2^32 - 1
# (and different from the master)
# defaults to 2 if master-host is set
# but will not function as a slave if omitted
#server-id = 2
#
# The replication master for this slave - required
#master-host = <hostname>
#
# The username the slave will use for authentication when connecting
# to the master - required
#master-user = <username>
#
# The password the slave will authenticate with when connecting to
# the master - required
#master-password = <password>
#
# The port the master is listening on.
# optional - defaults to 3306
#master-port = <port>
#
# binary logging - not required for slaves, but recommended

It looks like you need to run the "setup-xampp.bat" in the root /xampp directory to correct the paths.

Could you open the XAMPP Control Panel, go to 'Config' in the upper right corner, check 'Show debug information', Save, restart the control panel, and post the entire control panel log here to give me a bit more information about your environment.

The log window is the large window at the bottom of the XAMPP Control Panel. You can simply select all and copy it to here after starting the control panel with debug info as stated above.

Okay, a couple things.

Could you try getting the latest control panel from the link in my signature first.

Next, could you try installing the MySQL service via the Control Panel again and post the log if things are not working correctly still.
