Apache says port 8080 busy

Howdy,

I used XAMPP yesterday, created new port 8080 and everything worked fine, was able to view .php files. Quit XAMPP and browsers, closed laptop.

But today when I try to start XAMPP, the control panel says something is already using port 8080 and so apache won't start. Nothing seems to be using 8080.

Is there a cache or something I need to clear so apache will listen to port 8080 again?
