at first it was port 80 that wouldnt let apache connect so im pretty sure i fixed that because now i changed the port on skype and that error no longer appears on the xampp control panel.

so the problem now is that i get this error message "access violation at address 005ABEFE in module 'xamp-control.exe'. Read of address 00000042"
has anyone else had this problem?

Could you open the control panel, click the 'config' button in the upper right, check the 'show debug info' box, save, close and reopen the control panel, and post the log here.

Could you also try the latest control panel and see if it is still an issue: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=48932
