Apache Friends Support Forum

i am using xampp for learning php whenever i type localhost on my web browser it asks me user name and password. after entering the right user name and password it gives 401 error which tell authentication required.

what to do ?

please tell me the solution of this problem

that's quite strange as XAMPP 1.8.0 has Apache 2.4.2

Did you perhaps have Apache installed before? or maybe still installed and running?
