Control Panel crash after running for around 15 minutes

Hi everyone, I have been using xampp for around 3 years and it is great. I regularly backup the whole xampp folder. This problem starts to happen since few days ago, the control panel would be "not response" after I open and run xampp for around 15 minutes. I need to force to close the program by ctrl+alt+delete, and actually the web server apache+mysql is running fine and working even after I force to close the not response control panel. I then can start the control panel again and seeing apache and mysql are running.

I recover from my backup except keeping the web page content folder and mysql folder, but the problem is still the same.

Any idea what can I do?

Could you also go into the control panel configuration (the config button in the upper-right), check the "show debug info" box, save, restart the control panel and post the log of it here

My control panel is v. 2.5 and I cannot find a control panel configuration.

Unfortunately I cannot offer any advice for that control panel. I work on version 3 and it is a complete recode in a different language.

If you are using a XAMPP later than 1.7.4 you can use the beta control panel (it should be version 3).

If you are using XAMPP 1.7.4 you can get the new CP here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=48932

Thanks. I install the xampp around 3 years ago then never update it. I am not sure what version is it.

You can look in the 'readme_en.txt' in the /xampp directory to find the version.

I will check it out tonight since I am not next to my computer now. By the way, is that very not safe to use xampp to publicly host a website even even any possible good setting in xampp + windows???

I find out this problem is relate to the AVG free antivirus 2013. It is totally fine after I turn on the apache and mysql, and then turn off then panel immediately. The apache and mysql is still running in the background and I can open the panel back to control these, as long as I don't open the panel too long time like 5 to 10 minutes would hang. If I open too long time, then panel hang, and the AVG would have .exe keep running with my cpu from 20% to 40% load all the time, and the only way would be even force closing the AVG or just restart the computer.

So it should be something AVG crash with my xampp.

Hi j2ee,

Thank you very much for that information.
It could be helpful for other AVG users too.

best wishes,
