transferring XAMPP to a new Windows account

Postby paul_roffey » 27. August 2012 14:03

Hi,
I have created a new Windows user account. When I tried to start XAMPP in the new account a message appeared saying that it was unable to open logs and that only one socket was available. I would normally copy the message but the window wouldn't let me do that.

I still have XAMPP installed (but not running) in the other user account. I suspect that I can only have it in one account not two. How then do I transfer it from one to the other?

Thanks for your help.

Where it is located it should not make a huge difference in User rights, unless you changed the locations for log files.

As far as the 'one socket' issue, you need to give me/us a verbatim transcription of that error...

Was the original user also the 'real' administrator (not just a member of Administrator's group)???

Open explorer, locate the xampp folder, right click and check permissions for Authenticated users.

You can also (just for grins) try running the Control Panel as administrator, and see if that 'fixes' everything.

Good Luck
