Mise à jour Xampp 1.8.0

for my site of leisure under Joomla! 2.5 (jpv53.com) and having no knowledge in computing, Xampp (installed is the 1.7.7, MySQL 5.0.90) has not changed. My hoster is evolving its version 1.24.0 (MySQL 5.5.25a), where warning of errors.
So here is my question: how to upgrade Xampp in 1.24.0 as simply as possible. I just read the upgrade Xampp method 1.8.0, too complex for me.Is
necessary to make this update?
