Importing Joomla 2.5 Template

Postby ronwireland » 26. July 2012 11:30

Hello, I have an existing Joomla 2.5 template that was created using Artisteer. I am now trying to install it on my localhost, Xampp 1.8. I have tried various methods but have drawn a blank. Is there some tutorials that may help or can someone help. I am still a newbie when it comes to all of this so you will have to be patient.

Regards

And I would say that is probably the most helpful comment I have seen all week. There is an old saying "Better to ask and look stupid than not to ask and remain stupid." You don't need to comment if you don't want to help......

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I'm also a moderator here, and part of my job it to keep this a XAMPP Board. Its purpose is specifically to support XAMPP installations on Windows - THUS - that is an off-topic post.

If Joomla did not work, because of a XAMPP install problem that would be quite different.

I don't delete them (off topic posts) as is often done on other soem boards, but our scarce resources (basically 3 'question answerers') need to be reserved for all the XAMPP support requests (did you notice there are lots of them?).

There's a Policy sticky on this board that specifically says - "This is NOT a PHP/Joomla/WordPress/Drupal etc. Help Forum " Those are all 3rd party scripts with their own HUGE help/support infrastructure. They are expert on Joomla, WP Drupal etc, 'we' are expert on XAMPP, that's what we are here to do.

how much more direct do we need to be???

I sincerely wish you good luck with Joomla.

Hi,

I wouldn't use XAMPP 1.8.0 (or any other PHP 5.4 stack) for Joomla development, because Joomla is not yet compatible with PHP 5.4 and it's requirements.
In those threads at the Joomla boards there is often the recommantdation to downgrade to PHP 5.3 (which would be XAMPP 1.7.7)

best wishes,
