Hello forum members

I need help please. I installed XAMP 1.8 on my Windows XP SP3 and tried to run it but below are the error message I keep on getting from the control panel.

Image

How can I stop the MS service (inetinfo.exe) that is currently using the two ports (80 and 443) required by Apache to start and run.

I have also installed the recommended Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable (see image below)

I'll appreciate if any help is given to this problem

Thank

Hi x247,

Your Microsoft IIS Server is blocking the needed ports.
If you don't need it, you should simply remove this module in the windows modules Dialog.

best wishes,

Yes -

You are apparently also running Microsoft's IIS "Internet Information Server "

You 'stop' it in Windows Service Manager. then make that long term by changing its Start Type to 'Manual'

Good Luck

Huge thanks to 'AItrea' and 'JonB'!

I did as you recommended, that is turning off the 'Microsoft IIS' from the Windows Service Manager thus:

Now, Apache can start and run smoothly...

I'm very happy about this. Thanks to you guys for the wonderful work you're doing here.

Although, I don't know what started and is using the IIS that I stopped, all I know is that my XAMP is running ok!
