I downloaded and extracted the zip version of Xampp 1.8.0 earlier, but the control panel seemst to be missing. Am I missing something?

It says:


Start, stop, test the XAMPP servers

The universal control center is the "XAMPP Control Panel" (thanks www.nat32.com). It is started with:

\xampp\xampp-control.exe

However it isn't there.

I checked both zip versions (.zip and 7z) as well as the installer for 1.8.0 and all contain the control panel. It should be in the root of your xampp installation with all the batch files, readmes and such. The version of the control panel linked above is not the same as the one available in 1.8.0 (it is older).

That's really odd, because it's not in the root on the one I downloaded last night. The one I downloaded is named xampp-win32-1.8.0-VC9.zip and is 174,487,038 bytes. Could you post the URL for download. I wonder if I was in a wrong location.

Well hackattack142 I don't know what to say. I just redownloaded it, and it's in this one. What's even more strange is that this one is the exact same file size as the one I downloaded last night that doesn't have it in it. I think perhaps I got a corrupted zip, because I never get a Finished button when I unzip. Thanks for your help.

I meet the same problem.
But even *NOW*, I download all files in http://sourceforge.net/projects/xampp/files/XAMPP%20Windows/1.8.0/ directory.
And all the USB versions *don't* contain xampp-control.exe, and all the FULL versions *do* contain xampp-control.exe.

You can just copy it over, and it will work.

I am having problems with my USB Lite 1.8.0 installation and I too have noticed that there is no xampp-control.exe. JonB, I find your comment about this confusing because the content list for the Lite version, on the XAMPP for Windows page, includes "XAMPP Control Panel 2.5 (lite version)". Unfortunately, when I research ways to troubleshoot what went wrong with my installation, all help refers to the Control Panel, which I don't have. I don't know where else to turn! Any ideas?

janecraft - This topic was originally about the 'full version'. That's one of the problems with tag-on posting.

As for the USB versions, apparently some errors were made in packaging and descriptions. I have no part in that process, I'm just a 'volunteer question answerer'.

To get the Control Panel, just download the zip or .7z of the full version and extract the archive. I think the only file you need is xampp-control.exe. Copy it into the root of your XAMPP installation
