for some reason i can't get MySQL to run and i have done everything suggested so i guess the only thing left is to post the error log here

Log:

A. - what version of the XAMPP download did you use?

B. - where did you 'install' XAMPP in your filesystem?

Edit:
try adding this line to your my.ini file:

innodb_flush_method=unbuffered
