I've lost localhost startup page

Postby JillC » 17. June 2012 10:53

I've been fiddling around trying to update a Joomla site. I copied it to my computer and then tried using jUpgrade to upgrade it from version 1.5 to 2.5. After waiting hours, on 2 attempts, I decided to forget that and try something else. I then downloaded Joomla 2.5 and extracted it into the htdocs folder then realised that it had not created its own folder as expected. I removed all the files/folders which had today's date and extracted the files once again but this time into a new folder.
Then I decided to create a database - but normally I would just enter localhost in the browser and the Xampp screen comes up so that I can choose phpMyAdmin. But instead I got a screen which says "It works!".
So now to get to phpMyAdmin I have to go through the Xampp Control Panel.
How can I fix this?

Hi JillC (there is ALWAYS time for a short salutation, especially if you are asking for support in an community board. It's a matter of politeness),

JillC wrote:[...] realised that it had not created its own folder as expected. [...]

Very common you have overwritten your default \xampp\htdocs\index.php file. Restore this file and everything should work again.

best wishes,
