Postby gaggid1 » 24. May 2012 19:55

Hi Friends,

First of all thanks to this community who try to help beginners like me to solve Apache and XAMPP errors.

Currently i am running Joomla on a XAMPP installation in Local Intranet environment. Since yesterday i am facing a strange issue where my joomla homepage stops working and show me following error.
Code: Select all
Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset.

I tried opening Joomla Administrator, after few refresh it was up and working. But some how was giving me same error again and again. When i checked event logs of my server i found following error message happening again and again.

I am running Apache and MYSQL both as service on my Window Server Edition 2008. I am too confused what is causing this ERROR 101 again and again..Please advice what could be the issue and how it can be resolved.

At the moment there are only 3 volunteers answering these questions. ALL three are busy IT/Development professionals who have full time jobs that give their time and attention to solving these issues. In my case, I do it on TWO Open Source projects.

I'm pretty sure this is what's termed a cascade failure. All the failures are driven by a root dependency.

First, you do have backups, right? Like from BEFORE you had the problem?

I would begin by trying to resolve the ntdll.dll issue.

Check the version of mysqli.dll in \xampp\php\ext and make sure it is the one that 'came' with XAMPP. If it is not, replace it with the file from the XAMPP .7z download.

Have you tried to upgrade Joomla or PHP or made any changes to the php.ini?

Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset.
this is probably because of the other failure.

Can you open phpMyAdmin or the XAMPP Welcome page - if so the problem is most likely specific to your script. If you can't open phpMyAdmin, you may have a generalized issue.

All in all - we caution people against using XAMPP for production environments - bear in mind, it was designed for developers to use as a local resource and its free. If you have company or organization critical applications/scripts they should be installed on a properly built stack.

Good Luck
