MySQL as service not running

Problems with the Windows version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

MySQL as service not running

Postby mktsgm » 10. April 2012 11:06

I installed XAMPP 1.7.7 on Windows 7. While installing I have deactivated UAC. I selected Apache, MySQL & Filezilla to start as service. While Apache & filezilla started fine as service, MySQL simply said 'not started' from control panel. Unable to start manually too. Msg is "Error: MySQL Service not started".
However, if I start mysql_start.bat from xampp folder, MySQL is running. But this may need to be run everytime I boot the computer. I do not know why MySQL only not starting as windows service. I faced no problem when I installed in on XP system.
Please help,
Thanks in adv,

Hi mktsgm,

Can you start MySQL from the control panel, if you don't have registered the MySQL Service?
Also take a look into your \xampp\mysql\data\mysql_error.log File for further messages.

best wishes,
