Sendmail from localhost: how to set sender.

Hi guys! So, i want to set a sender different from the gmail account i use to send mail with xampp. i tried to manage headers in the function mail() setting "FROM mail@mail.com" but i receive always the email with gmail account as sender. Any idea?
