apache busy port 80

Problems with the Windows version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

i have a problem with xampp.
whenever i start apache in xampp control panel application, it shows :
apache started [port 80]
busy...

what should i do?

also i tried the following in command prompt as mentioned below. see if it can help solving the problem.


Installing Apache2.2 as an Service
Installing the Apache2.2 service
The Apache2.2 service is successfully installed.
Testing httpd.conf....
Errors reported here must be corrected before the service can be started.

Unable to open logs
Now we Start Apache2.2 :)
The Apache2.2 service is starting.
The Apache2.2 service could not be started.

A service specific error occurred: 1.

We always respond to posts when ever we find the time to do so as all members who help in these forums are volunteering their spare time, so there is never a rush to respond to asap request, in fact you are more likely to be ignored while other posts are answered first.


Your errors indicate that you have another server running on port 80 and it must be disabled to allow Apache to start.

The most common culprits are World Wide Publishing Service (IIS) and it's satellite applications, and Skype.
