i've installed xampp version 1.7.3 on my windows Xp system. the problem is that Apapche does not start, only mysql runs and there is no programme using port 80.
what is the solution

Read the \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file for clues.

I have the same problem

1 - New XP install
2 - No Skype no IIS just bog standard XP with SP3
3 - Ran Netstats - nothing appears to be using ports
4 - check logs - log folder is blank
5 - Tried full and Lite Version same problem
6 - Firewall is off
7 - 2nd Nic is disabled

Still will not run
What am i missing ? Help

After installing did you reboot?

If a reboot fails to work then try an alternative method of uninstalling/installing as outlined in this post:
viewtopic.php?p=179699#p179699

Sometimes the current installer gives unpredictable issues and using the zip method often results in success.

I uninstalled and put older version 1.7.3 on
and it worked first time

that will do for this project - will investigate another day
