[solved]Apache starts, then stops

I have had XAMPP installed for few years now and used it pretty often until maybe a month ago. Everything was working great and Apache was running as a service because I needed to use it on daily basis. After I came back from vacation (someone else was using the computer in the meantime, but I don't see any new programs installed), all of sudden I could not connect to localhost. I saved my work in a different folder, stopped services, uninstalled XAMPP - the latest version - still nothing. When I checked XAMPP Control Panel, I realized that Apache was actually not running. I started it, it ran for about 5 seconds, then stopped.

I am on XP Pro SP2
